Well, Daddy is getting closer to weekly posts - it's only been 12 days since the last post. Why the delay? Because we never want to put down our beautiful baby girl!
Write a post or kiss this beautiful face? That's not even a question - here come the swarms of kisses!
Who knew having a baby would be so much fun!
Who's a happy baby? Why of course, it's Violetta!
The funny part is that I'm the one crying, and Violetta is imitating me!
Over the last few weeks, we've gone from "Umm...what do we do now?" to much more comfortable and confident parents. This is largely due to our fabulous doula / baby-whisperer, Carissa. Today was our last session for a while, and Momma and I were joking that the wind had changed and our very own Mary Poppins would be leaving us. But she's such a wonderful person that we'll definitely stay in touch. Carissa helped us with learning how to properly prepare your baby for nighttime sleep by cutting back on the evening stimuli. Guess who has the most trouble with this? Not our lil' baby, but Daddy! Yes, I'm totally guilty of sneaking in lots of late night baby kisses.
This baby would be asleep already if Daddy would just stop it with the kisses!
Part of our nighttime routine. Bath time = Fun time!
Along with us becoming more comfortable parents, the biggest change is how big lil' Violetta is getting! Momma and I used to joke that we would limit how much food we would feed our baby girl to keep her itty, bitty sized as long as possible. Her little "newborn" sized clothes are much too small, and V is now wearing "0-3 month" clothes! On the plus side, this does mean our baby is growing and healthy; and is no longer wearing "under 7 pounds" clothing. Instead of restricting how much food our lil' one eats, we figured we'd go out and buy a huge, 12 month old outfit so our little Peanut looks super teeny, tiny again!
In 46 weeks, little V may be wearing this outfit!
In addition to getting bigger, little Violetta is getting used to having a "Papa"razzi for a Daddy. Living a life in front of a camera lens, having Momma and Daddy make all sorts of bizarre, down right ridiculous noises to get her attention, and sometimes taking an extra moment to clean up spit up so we can get a funny picture - these are the hardships that our lovely V has to put up with.
"Daddy, would you please put down the camera and clean up my milk-covered face"?
We also took our first Autumn-themed trip by going to the pumpkin patch! It was a beautiful sunny day with a picture perfect blue sky backdrop. Amongst the cinnamon stewed apple cider, sugary sweet caramel corn, and bright orange pumpkins, there was a pumpkin who stood out amongst all the others - our lil' pumpkin!
Yes, of course that is a pumpkin beanie she's wearing!
Halfway through week 5, and little Violetta's movements are becoming less random; they're more purposeful and controlled. She's gaining awareness in her body and we've been doing lots of Daddy-Baby sit-ups. Unfortunately, we don't have a video of it, but Violetta actually rolled over! We were laying on the bed, and V was on her stomach. She was digging her heels in and the next thing we knew, she was on her back looking up at us, giggling and waving her arms around!
Great muscle recruitment and body awareness. Daddy is super proud!
